Take A Peek Into My Sunday Morning Routine

"Sunday." Something about this word just has a very delightful ring to it. Well, aside from the fact that this word reminds me of one of my all time favorite desserts (vanilla sundaes), this day has always been and will always be my favorite day of the week—mainly because for many of us Filipinos, Sunday is family day.

Here’s a peek into what a Sunday morning looks like for me:

8:00 am

I love the moments before I go to bed on a Saturday night because I know that I’ll have the luxury of sleeping in a little more the next day. On Sundays I wake up not too early, and not too late — because I want to make up for lost sleep but at the same time, I want to maximize the day that I have with my family.

9:00 am

I honestly really treasure moments as simple as having breakfast with my family on Sundays. First, I fix myself a cup of Nescafé coffee. While waiting for our delicious breakfast to be prepared, I either read the newspaper with my husband or play around with the dogs and kids. Whether it’s pancakes, pandesal and butter, or my favorite sinangag and corned beef, Sunday breakfasts are the best because my husband is home and the kids don't have to rush off to school. While eating, we decide where we want to eat for lunch — that's if we don't already have it planned!

10:00  am

Sunday is the day of rest —and relaxation! Right now is the perfect time to give myself what I deserve: “me time.” I mean, considering the fact that I'm always up early on the weekdays and I'm going to events, tapings, and running errands left and right, I think my “me time” is very well deserved.

Take note:  You should always make it a point to have some "me time" -- it's good for your mind, body, and emotional well-being.

I like to spend my "me time" taking  a good warm bath. I light one of my favorite scented candles and take a good warm soak in my bathtub. I spend my bathtub time either reading a good fashion magazine, catching up on my favorite Netflix shows such as RuPaul's Drag Race and DOGS, or simply just listening to good music. ( I love listening to Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, and of course, Dua Lipa.)

After including “me time” in my routine, I realized how effective this could be for me. I use this time to reconnect with myself. It’s the only time I get to be in complete solitude.

After my allotted “me time”, I get dressed, put on my best Sunday outfit, and then we head off to service!  I love going to service with my family-- a family that prays together, stays together. Today is the day of the Lord -- I've always believed that if we can dedicate a huge chunk of our week to  just working, then we most definitely can spend an hour or two with our Lord -- thanking Him for all the blessings He has showered us throughout the week.

My tip for you is -- as much as possible, dedicate this day for your family and for yourself.  Surround yourself with good vibes so that you start your week with a really good attitude. Having a great Sunday means starting off your week the right way-- the best way!

Here's a little something I made when I went out for a fun "Sundate" with my hubby. Hope you enjoy! 💕 - LM LOVE MARIE ONGPAUCO-ESCUDERO (known in the Philippine entertainment industry as Heart Evangelista) started her career at the age of 13 as a commercial model and actress.

May your Sundays be full of love, laughter, and of course, food!
